Mona has a history of excelling at just about everything but begins to quit everything she is good at when her dad becomes ill with a mysterious disease. Mona seeks solace in numbers and their finite equations and the answers they provide. She develops OCD tendencies of knocking on wood out of superstition as well as eating soap to try to fend off uncontrollable feelings when her love interest tries to become intimate. The book is about her struggle to abandon her calculated world for the more unwielding path of love.
